How can i understand my birth chart?

There are thousands of free resources about reading and understanding your birth chart available online. There are popular sources that cover a wide range of topics from the basics for beginners to in-depth analysis for experts and professionals. What if I don’t know the time of birth or event?

An optimal chart includes an accurate birth time, therefore we recommend creating a chart with a time.

Luckily, today it is common practice for most countries to register an official time of birth on birth certificates. If you do not have a copy of your birth certificate on-hand you can contact the local office of vital statistics or the registry office where birth records are maintained in your country or region. Alternately you can sometimes get official birth information by contacting the hospital in which you were born as they do, in many instances, keep birth records on hand. Be sure to specify time of birth in your requests as some versions of documents omit that information even when it may be recorded and available on a different version of the record. For additional links that might help retrieve birth time in your region visit our Resources Page.

What is an astrology chart / birth chart?

A birth chart maps the positions of the planets in relationship to one another at the moment of birth. For centuries Astrologers have used these complex charts to examine a person’s personality traits, preferences, strengths, limitations and opportunities. Several standard elements bring each chart to life, most importantly the zodiac, celestial markers which include the 10 planets as well as other celestial bodies and mathematically significant points, and the 12 houses. How is my chart printed?

Premium printed charts arrive on museum quality, heavyweight, archival art paper with a smooth matte finish. Standard charts are printed on professional quality ultra premium heavyweight matte paper.  All prints appear with high-quality colors that are deep and rich.

How accurate is my chart?

Planetary Portraits uses a number of trusted, contemporary resources to calculate your chart so that it can be as accurate as possible. 

We draw from the Swiss Ephemeris, which is a highly recognized, comprehensive list of the positions of naturally occurring astronomical objects as well as artificial satellites in the sky at a given time or times.  The Swiss Ephemeris is based upon the planetary and lunar ephemeris DE431 developed by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. This program serves the needs of astrologers, archaeoastronomers, and, depending on purpose, also the needs of astronomers. It’s precision is at least as good as that of the Astromical Almanac, which follows current standards of ephemeris calculation.

How long does it take printed chart to ship?

At the point that payment is received your order will be in production for approximately 1-2 business days. After that point a tracking number will be issued and sent to you, and you can expect shipping and delivery to be completed in the times listed below:

Standard Shipping and delivery times:

Chart Prints:

• Unframed Prints: approximately 3-7 business days
• Framed prints approximately 5-10 business days 

Please note that after an order is placed it may take in certain cases up to 3-5 business days for some payment providers to process your payment. The times above reflect periods after payment has been processed and received.

Horoscope Reports:

• Digital Reports will arrive via email within 1-3 days after purchase.
• Printed Report Books should arrive 5-10 business days to after purchase

How much does it cost to ship my printed chart?

Shipping is free in the USA and the rest of the world with the exception of Canada. 

Shipping to Canada:

30x40cm (12"x16") & 45x60cm (18"x24") unframed charts: $7

Small framed charts 30x40cm (12"x16"): $15

Large framed charts 45x60cm (18"x24"): $25

Is the price of my order visible on the packing slip? 

Packing slips do not include prices or personal payment information. 

Can I track my order?

All standard Printed Chart shipments include free tracking. You will receive an email notifying you when your order has been shipped. This email will include tracking information.

We do not offer tracking for Horoscope Books, however you will be notified via email when your book ships.

How long does it take my digital chart order to arrive in my email?

Digital orders will arrive in your inbox within 1-2 business days along with your digital horoscope report and chart legends. 

My print has been marked delivered but why don't I have it?

In some cases if you were not home when the package was delivered the carrier has left the package with a neighbor or in an alternative part of your property. Before assuming your package has been lost check around your property.

The vast majority of time people have experienced this issue - the print will either be delivered within one or two business days, or it is on or around the property.

We cannot contact the carriers on your behalf but you may contact them with your tracking number and an update should be able to be provided.

I didn't receive my order. What do I do?

Lost in Transit: In the rare event that your order has been lost in transit, all claims must be submitted to the carrier service. Your order comes with a tracking number that you can reference when calling to submit a claim with the carrier.

If your item shows that it has not been shipped after ....... days please send an email to Contact@Planetaryportraits with the subject line "UNSHIPPED". We will do our best to see what is causing the delay. If you contact us after the 30-day return period has expired (see return policy) we cannot issue any refund or replacement. It is the customer's responsibility to check the order shipping status.

I submitted a chart with a typo or error. What can I do?

If you have only placed your order recently there may be a small chance to pull the order and make the edit for you if the order has not yet reached the printer. You will need to send an email to contact@planetaryportraits.com with the subject header "TYPO ERROR" and include your order number and instructions on what you need to change. We will do our best to make the change if there's still time, though this is rare.

About Gifts Cards

If you did not receive your gift card confirmation email in your inbox please check your spam or junk folders first. If your confirmation email is not found there please contact us at contact@planetaryportraits.com

If a person for whom you have ordered a gift card has not received their gift card email, please check your own email account to make sure you have correctly forwarded the gift card to them. Gift cards are delivered to the email address of the person who placed the original order. The person who placed the original order is responsible for forwarding the gift card email to the intended gift recipient. See the FAQ section How to give gift cards as a gift.

How to order a gift card:

Gift cards can be added as products into the shopping cart and purchased. After the order is placed you will receive a standard email invoice for your order as well as a separate confirmation email for each individual gift card purchased. Each gift card confirmation email will have a “view your gift card now” link that will open up a new page containing the gift card template with a unique 16 digit gift card code.

How to give a gift card as a gift:

Planetary Portraits is not yet able to send gift cards directly to gift recipients. We recommend that you personally forward the gift card confirmation email to the gift recipient, or print the gift card to mail or deliver personally. Please note that if you enter the email address of a gift recipient at checkout, that recipient will also receive your invoice and order information.

How can I check my gift card balance?

There are two ways to the remaining balance of your Planetary Portraits gift card:

The first way is to locate and open the email that you received after your gift card purchase with the subject “Your Planetary Portraits gift card is ready”. Click on the “view gift card” link. A window will open displaying your gift card code, the original value of the card and a black frame box showing the current balance. If you have not used any of your gift card the black box with the remaining balance will not be displayed.
The second way of checking your balance is adding an order into the Planetary Portraits shopping cart and entering your gift card number at checkout. The remaining balance of your gift card will be applied but your gift card balance will not be used unless you complete the order.

Do gift cards expire?

Your Planetary Portrait gift card is valid for two years after the date of purchase.

Can multiple gift cards be applied at checkout?

Yes, multiple gift cards can be applied during checkout.

Can I use a gift card to purchase another gift card?

No, gift cards cannot be applied to the purchase of new gift cards.

Are there any additional fees that are attached to gift cards?

Gift cards have no processing fees.

Digital Orders

About Digital Files

Digital File Specs

We provide you with the option of downloading a digital file of your chart for your own use. When you order a digital file you will receive a zip file containing a scaleable PDF (vector) as well as a high resolution PNG (raster) of your astrology portrait.  The PDF is approximately 3 MB in size. The PNG is approximately 1.5MB and 8500 x 6375 pixels.

How to download digital file:

Once you place your order you will receive a confirmation email for your purchase as well as a second email containing a link to your digital file. Click the link to download the digital file directly to your computer.

About Frames

We’ve chosen an eternally popular, elegant and simple classic frame option that is created from high-quality wood, milled with simple clean lines and presented with a satin finish. This frame has a square profile measuring 20mm (front face) by 23mm (depth from wall) and is available in black and white.  A Clear acrylic plexiglass glaze provides increased UV protection, is extremely robust and offers limited glare for your portrait. Frames are delivered fully strung and ready for hanging.

Silver and gold frames are also available options.

Image Rights

You may not download for resale or otherwise use the design or content for commercial purposes. You may, however, download, copy and print your file as many times as you see fit so long so long as you are not using the image or its likeness for commercial purposes. 

Refunds

As is stated in our Return Policy, we do not offer refunds or exchange credit for digital download orders so please be sure that your entry details are correct and the image is to your liking before finalizing your order.

The data you enter on www.planetaryportraits.com chart generator will be used exclusively for the calculation and display of chart interpretations and drawings as well as for the function of the website. They are transmitted in encrypted form and stored on the servers of Planetary Portraits. No data entered into the Planetary Portraits chart generator will be passed on to third parties.

What format is the Planetary Portraits Ebook?

Planetary Portraits Guide to Understanding your Astrology Chart is delivered in a ZIP file. Inside that ZIP file you will find three formats of the ebook: PDF, EPUB and MOBI. These three formats will allow you to read the book on a number of devices including Kindle, Nook, and Kobo eReaders. Consult your device's owner's manual for instructions on uploading content.

Is Astrology Real?

Some people believe that the planetary forces directly influence human behavior on earth. Others believe that there is merely a correlation between celestial bodies and terrestrial activity.  Of course there are many people who don’t believe in astrology at all.  The truth is that it doesn’t matter whether astrology is “real” or not.  What’s important to recognize is the great potential for self-reflection that an astrological birth chart can provide.
